It is from the sea that Sicily has chosen to tell its story, on a journey that combines tradition, innovation, and respect for the environment. With the first edition of “Flavors of Sicily from the Sea – Food and Sustainable Nautical Tourism,” the Island unveiled a new face of experiential tourism, where agri-food excellences become the protagonists of an itinerant and sustainable narrative.

Promoted by InChorus and funded by the Regional Department of Agriculture, Mediterranean Fisheries, Department of Agriculture, Service 5 “Quality and Sicily Brand Marketing,” the initiative launched with the round table “Towards Sustainable Nautical Tourism,” involving industry operators, local producers, and environmental experts. Among the topics discussed were the need to invest in soft mobility models that are accessible and low environmental impact; the strategic role of the sea as a space to promote Sicilian agri-food identity; and the opportunities offered by new technologies in electric boating.

Green innovations in boating were presented at the Acquasanta marina, where X-FUN electric boats took part in a symbolic and meaningful water parade. These 100% electric inflatable boats, lightweight and easy to use, can be conveniently transported by car and are ready to use in about 20 minutes, thanks to electric pumps.

Designed to simplify access to the sea, these boats overcome the limits of traditional boating, eliminating complexity, cost, and constraints, making way for the pure pleasure of navigation in a sustainable, silent, and accessible way for all.

An initiative that successfully combined aesthetics, ease of use, and zero impact, demonstrating how boating can be accessible, ecological, and rooted in the territory.

“We are in the heart of a special year,” commented Regional Councillor Salvatore Barbagallo, “and projects like this perfectly align with the spirit of 2025, the year in which Sicily is the capital of gastronomy and the Sicilian Region has developed an ambitious program to promote the Sicily brand.”
